“We didn’t have to chase paperwork from different projects. Everything was tracked and recorded in one place.”

Earlier this year, Centina partnered with Breadcrumb to strengthen how safety is managed across their projects in South Australia.

That decision played a key role in their recent ISO 45001 accreditation. With every safety record stored digitally, the team could demonstrate compliance through a clear, auditable document trail.

Here’s how the partnership helped power their accreditation journey.

Paper Processes No Match For A Growing Contractor

Based in Adelaide, Centina has been delivering commercial, industrial and residential projects since 2007. Safety has always been central to everything they do.

As their work grew more complex and teams expanded across multiple sites, their paper-based system couldn't keep pace. Printed checklists, scanned documents, and emailed SWMS forms were slow and hard to track across a growing company.

Centina needed something that could scale as they grew, give them real-time visibility, and ensure everyone on site had the right information at the right time.

That search led them to Breadcrumb’s digital safety and visibility tool.

A Digital Safety Platform That Connects Everyone On Site

Site Operations Manager Rick McGlashan sees Breadcrumb's biggest benefit as getting workers inducted before work begins.

Since rolling out Breadcrumb, Centina has gained greater visibility at both a site and leadership level and automated key safety processes, from subcontractor onboarding to managing risk at work fronts.

Here’s a breakdown of what that looks like:

Every Worker is Certified And Accounted For

For Site Operations Manager, Rick McGlashan, the biggest benefit starts before work even begins.

“The best thing about inducting people off site is making sure everyone has the correct certifications and licences - White Cards, first aid and the appropriate tickets for operating plant,” he says.

“Breadcrumb keeps us on top of that, so we know the people coming onto site are qualified and ready to work safely.”

All site inductions for Centina’s visitors, subcontractors, and suppliers are completed digitally, ensuring everyone understands the layout, hazards and safety requirements before they pick up the tools.

SWMS And SDS Collection Is Easy Breezy

Previously, chasing SWMS and SDS by email or hard copy was a time-consuming process for their site teams. Now, Centina sends subcontractors a single unique link. The subcontractor uploads their SWMS and SDS, and Centina gets an instant notification to review it all in one place.

“For example, if a concreter is bringing a petrol generator onto site, we’ll have the Safety Data Sheet for the fuel before they start work,” Rick explains. “It’s about managing risks before they become issues.”

Permits For High Risk Work, All In One Place

Centina manages every high-risk permits through Breadcrumb, such as hot works, roof access and excavation. Each permit is reviewed and approved by a Centina team member to ensure subcontractors have the correct licences, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

“Breadcrumb gives us confidence that anyone working on our sites is authorised and properly prepared,” says Rick.

Workforce Visibility and Site Communication In Real-Time

One of the biggest shifts away from paper has been real-time visibility. Centina can see exactly who is on site at any given moment. Because everyone checks in through Breadcrumb, the information workers receive is always accurate and up to date.

That visibility has also strengthened communication on site.

“Our supervisors can run daily pre-starts and send urgent site alerts to notify workers of upcoming risks, such as large crane movements or concrete pours. It goes instantly to everyone who is checked in on site. It’s a tool we use often,” Rick says.

How the Breadcrumb and Procore Integration Supported ISO Accreditation

By integrating Breadcrumb with their Procore, Centina has synced all safety docs with their project records from day one, populating the Site Diary and Documents hub without manual entry.

That meant when Centina undertook their ISO 45001 accreditation, all safety and project data was already time-stamped, centralised and accessible.

“We didn’t have to chase paperwork from different projects. Everything was tracked and recorded in one place,” Rick says.

With Breadcrumb’s two-way integration, all safety information automatically flows into the right Procore folders, eliminating duplicate data entry and keeping project records accurate and compliant in one place.

What's Next for Centina?

For Centina, Breadcrumb isn't just a compliance tool. It's the foundation of a proactive safety culture where risks are managed early, teams stay informed, and everyone goes home safe.

The ISO accreditation is a significant achievement and the Centina team put in a full year of hard work to earn it. That dedication, backed by the right digital tools, is something to be genuinely proud of.

As they continue to grow, Breadcrumb gives Centina the platform to scale their safety culture consistently across every project and every site.
