Breadcrumb Marks a Major Security Milestone with ISO 27001

March 23, 2026

We are proud to announce that Breadcrumb has achieved ISO 27001:2022 certification – a globally recognised, tried and tested standard for implementing and maintaining information security.

With over 1,000 contractors using Breadcrumb across more than 50,000 projects in Australasia, the US, and the UKI, the certification provides independent assurance that their data is protected to the highest standard.

A journey rooted in trust and innovation

Since launching in 2020, Breadcrumb has become a digital safety and compliance tool used by over a million workers. We set out with a vision to make the construction industry safer and more compliant through innovation and technology, and we have never stopped evolving alongside the industry we serve.

Achieving ISO 27001:2022 certification is the next step in that journey.

The accreditation demonstrates that our processes for managing risk, protecting information, and maintaining security are aligned with globally recognised best practices. It also reinforces our commitment to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data.

What does this mean for Breadcrumb customers?

Your data is safe and secure

With ISO 27001, we have established stringent security measures to safeguard your data. By following these guidelines, Breadcrumb ensures that customer information is protected against cyber threats and unauthorised access.

We'll maintain these practices

As part of our adherence to ISO 27001, we will undergo annual audits by an independent third party to maintain these certifications.

For future Breadcrumb customers, ISO 27001 certification helps streamline procurement and security assessments, making it easier for General Contractors to evaluate and approve Breadcrumb as a trusted technology partner.

The path to certification

Security has always been part of how Breadcrumb builds and operates. Throughout 2024, the team worked to strengthen existing practices and align them with ISO 27001 requirements. The certification process began in November 2025 and focused on formalising documentation and preparing our Information Security Management System. An independent audit followed in late January 2026, leading to our accreditation.

Ata Naderi, Breadcrumb’s Systems Engineer who led the ISO 27001 certification process, said the results highlighted the strong security foundations already in place.

“Once the formal audits started, the reviews showed very high compliance, over 94%, especially in the technical controls and policy areas. That showed that many of the right practices were already in place before the certification process even began,” Ata said.

What Happens Now That We Are Certified?

While ISO 27001 certification is a significant achievement, it isn’t a one-and-done thing — it's an ongoing commitment. Security and innovation go hand in hand, and we are committed to continuing this journey.

“As Breadcrumb grows, our security measures will continue to evolve alongside the software, giving customers and partners confidence that their data remains protected,” Ata said.
